Bridge Cottage Surgery are set to scrap their walk-in service

The Bridge Cottage Surgery, in High Street, Welwyn, is set to stop its casual and emergency walk-in service.

The surgery serves 16,000 residents in Welwyn and surrounding rural villages, and will terminate the service on Monday, November 16.

It will mean users who queue for morning appointments between 8am and 9pm, and afternoon ones between 4pm and 5pm, will soon need to call or book online instead.

Surgery senior partner, Nick Dansie, said: “We have been reorganising our reception team to take into account the expected increase in calls.

“It is hoped the new system will benefit patients by giving access to their preferred GP on any day they work; early morning appointments for those who work, 10 minute appointments for all patients, and the opportunity to book appointments for the following day.”

Mr Dansie said the surgery would review the system change, and encouraged residents to send feedback to general.bridgecottagesurgery@nhs.net
