This year, the honour of lighting up the town went to Nellie Sparrow from Holwell Primary School, and Tim Nwachukwu, a nurse who rushed to the aid of someone in need.

Nellie won the honour when her lantern drawing was picked as the best from a competition run by The Yat’s from Creation Station Welwyn Garden City. .

It was Tim’s day off from the emergency rooms at the Lister Hospital, but he rushed to help a gentleman who was taken ill and stayed while paramedics brought the man back to consciousness.

Meanwhile, Max from St John’s Primary school won the drawing competition using the theme ‘Having fun at Christmas’.
