GREEN-FINGERED residents are celebrating after a village allotment site was named the third best in Britain.
Welwyn Allotment Association beat competition from 42 other groups to reach the final of Britain's best allotment site 2009.
And following a tour of the site in Lockleys Drive, the competition judges awarded the group with a third place certificate, behind rival associations from Bournemouth and Derby.
