ONE of the companies excluded from the county council’s incinerator shortlist preferred NOT to build a waste burner at New Barnfield, the WHT can exclusively reveal.
The details emerged after this newspaper was shown a letter sent to Welwyn Hatfield Lib Dem parliamentary candidate Paul Zukowskyj.
In the letter, Malcolm Chilton, the managing director of Covanta Energy, confirmed his company’s preferred site for an incinerator would not be New Barnfield.
Covanta, along with SITA UK, was excluded from the council’s bidding process last week when it cut its shortlist from six firms down to four.
