Fire stations in Welwyn Garden City and Welwyn are in need of daytime cover, service bosses have revealed.

The Herts Fire and Rescue Service has admitted it needs more retained firefighters to come forward.

Retained firefighters provide emergency on-call cover.

This week councillor Richard Thake, who is responsible for community safety at County Hall, said: “This has attracted a diverse work force and an increasing number of women and single parents into the role. If you feel it is a commitment you could make we would particularly welcome applicants from all sections of the community.”

To find out more, applicants must complete an online form at www.herts
direct.org/rds

Those who are successfully shortlisted will be required to attend a selection day on Tuesday, December 3, in Stevenage.
