MORE than 250 sports stars, artists, illustrators and TV and film actors have created one-off paintings for an online auction for a Hatfield-based charity.
Double London 2012 Olympic gold medallist Mo Farah, Dame Kelly Holmes, Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe and Manchester United and England star Wayne Rooney are just some of the 250 famous names who have added their own masterpieces to the auction.
Bidding for the one-off canvases in the Stars on Canvas auction opened on Wednesday and ends on Sunday, with prices starting at 99p.
This is the third Stars on Canvas auction, with the previous two auctions raising more than £100,000 for the Willow Foundation, which provides special days out for people with serious illnesses.
Willow Foundation co-founder Bob Wilson said: “Buying just one of the many canvases will not only be a fantastic purchase of one-off art or the perfect Christmas gift, but will also mean a great deal to the people who will benefit from a special day during a really tough time of their life.”
All canvases are available to view now at www.starsoncanvas.org.uk and an exhibition will be open to the public from tomorrow (Thursday) until December 1 at Maddox Arts in London.
