Water firm warns customers over bogus caller threats

A BOGUS caller purporting to be from Veolia Water is phoning residents and leaving messages or putting a card through letterboxes demanding payment.
Now the Hatfield-based water firm is asking its customers to be extra vigilant.
The caller has been demanding overdue water bill payment in full over the telephone using a credit or debit card.
Vincent Muldoon, Veolia’s director of customer relations, said: “We are very concerned about these unscrupulous people who try to defraud our customers by obtaining their bank details.”
“Employees of Veolia Water would never cold call our customers and offer them a discount for payment.
“We would also not leave a card in your door demanding payment ”
