Welwyn Garden City crooner Lee Glasson will showcase his skills to a live audience of millions tonight (Saturday), in the quarter-finals of The Voice UK.
"The support from Welwyn Garden City has been amazing... it’s great the Welwyn Hatfield Times has got my back"
The 31-year-old impressed his mentor Kylie Minogue with a unique take of the classic George Michael ballad Careless Whisper in last week’s episode.
Insurance manager Lee now has to focus on the high-pressure live stage of the BBC One talent show – and must now please the public to stay in the contest.
He told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “The decision was in Kylie’s hands, and music is so subjective, now it is going out to the audience and it’s up to them to vote.
“I don’t know if anyone will like it, obviously it is live too, there is no room for error.”
Lee has been sworn to secrecy ahead of the live round, but revealed he is working on a track.
The former Monk’s Walk School student said: “I can’t give too much information out, I have been told to keep quiet.
“It’s a classic song. It’s one I think people from older generations might enjoy.”
Although the singer’s stunning blind audition has been viewed by over one million people on YouTube, his biggest live audience so far has only been 400 strong.
When Lee is on TV and how to vote
The two hour show is on BBC One at 6.45pm.
This year you can vote online for free, for information on how to do so click here.
Otherwise a phone number will be provided during the show.
“The first episode of the blind audition was watched by something like 10.8 million people, it’s pretty mad,” he said. For the past couple of years Lee has lived in Coventry, but will soon be heading back to his home town.
And he is grateful for Times Territory’s support.
He said: “The support from Welwyn Garden City has been amazing... it’s great the Welwyn Hatfield Times has got my back.”
