A GANG are believed to be responsible for a spate of thefts from cars in Potters Bar, writes Naiomi Madden.

In just three nights 13 vehicles were broken into.

Police are now warning motorists not to leave valuables in sight after the crime spree.

Thieves smashed windows, taking valuable satellite navigation systems, mobile phones, a wallet and even clothing.

The motors, mainly Volkswagens, were targeted on the streets on January 16, 17 and 18.

The culprits struck mainly in the early hours and in some cases took nothing, just caused damage to the vehicles.

Pc Paul Reading, ward constable for Oakmere, is urging people to be alert and to contact the station if they saw anything suspicious.

He said: "Please be alert and do not leave any valuables in sight.

"If anyone was in the area at the time of the incidents and may have seen anything suspicious or knows anything about them call the station."
