A HAND-CARVED wooden bench is being created for Sherrardspark Wood and residents are being invited to vote on what it should look like.
After a plea in the WHT, residents have made suggestions, and everyone is now being asked to pick the best. The unique art installation will be a permanent commemorative feature to mark the 90th anniversary of WGC.
The winning theme will be created in December by wood carving expert Tommy Craggs.
The themes, one of which will be the basis for Mr Craggs’ work, are:
Cultural diversity – “90” written in as many languages as possible.
Cycling.
A tree of life – depicting the eco system of Sherrardspark Wood.
A Hornbeam with birds and squirrels of Sherrardspark Wood.
Underwater countryside life.
A squirrel, with his tail as the bench.
