A Welwyn Garden City football club is encouraging young people to get involved in a refurbishment scheme and gain valuable work experience.

WGC Football Club, at Herns Way, will be installing turnstiles donated by Tottenham Hotspur and also giving the club house a facelift.

The club is working with the charity Volunteer it Yourself (VIY), which gives youngsters aged 14 to 24 the chance to learn trade and building skills.

Participants are mentored by professional tradespeople.

Club secretary Karen Fisher said: “Wickes forwarded our details to VIY.

“VIY will work with these kids and show them how to work.

“We’re not just a football club, we’re a community club and want to do things for the community.

“This charity is happy to take on kids with minor disabilities or special needs.”

If you are a young person who would like to get involved, contact Karen on 07963880184 or email welwyngardencityfc@gmail.com
