THINK your village has got what it takes to be crowned village of the year?

If so, then why not enter it into the 12th annual Hertfordshire Calor Village of the Year 2008 competition.

Two villages will be selected as the overall winners for their area, each winning £250.

Each will also gain a chance to compete in the Calor Village of the Year for England contest.

Last year, Brookmans Park scooped the ICT honour, one of six categories, in the competition, organised by CPRE - the Hertfordshire Society.

This year there are four categories, environment, business, people and community life.

Villages can enter as many categories as they wish and each holds a prize of £100.

Organiser Jo Simson said: "For 2008 we have simplified the competition and hope this will encourage more villages to enter and discover the benefits of the competition, which celebrates and encourages village life."

The overall winning village will have the chance to share a prize fund totalling more than £40,000.

Last year's overall winner was Hertford Heath.

For an entry pack call Jo on 01438 717587 or download the form at www.cpreherts.org.uk

The deadline for receipt of entries is May 1.
