WHEN George Tebbutt first opened his business in Burnham Green, George VI was still on the throne, London was hosting the Olympics and the NHS was founded.

Last week, however, the Tebbutt family closed G W Tebbutt and Sons' shop door for the very last time, after 61 years of trading.

Ian, who took over the store with his two older brothers Robert and Richard when his dad, George, died in 1989, told the WHT it was a day of mixed emotions.

The 46-year-old said: "On one side I'm very excited; then also one side of me is terrified. This shop is all I have known. But we've loved every minute."

Further coverage in this week's WHT - and find out more about the future of the store in next week's paper.
