WGC singer Alesha Dixon has begun climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Comic Relief.

A video of the former Monk's Walk student with GMTV presenter Ben Shephard has just been released by the Comic Relief team.

The Strictly Come Dancing star left Britain with Ben ahead of the other eight celebrities to see how Red Nose Day cash is spent in Tanzania.

Fellow stars Cheryl Cole, Chris Moyles, Denise Van Outen, Fearne Cotton, Gary Barlow, Kimberley Walsh and Ronan Keating have all now started the 19,340 feet climb.

It will take the celebrity climbers an exhausting 8-day trek to reach the summit.

Each gruelling moment will be captured for a documentary, recording every bump, slip and trip from the base camp to the summit.
