A video promoting the upcoming cycling Women’s Tour – which will include a nailbiting stage finish in Welwyn Garden City – was shown this morning.
At a launch event at the Gosling Sports Park this morning (Wednesday), officials were told the event promises to be an exciting spectacle.
The drama will unfold on May 10, with 11 of the world’s top 14 teams signed up to compete.
Cycling star Emma Trott, who went through the ranks at Welwyn Wheelers Cycling Club, told the audience: “If you give us hills and give us wind, you’ll get a good race.”
The fourth stage of the tour will finish at Parkway, Welwyn Garden City, with rolling roadblocks set to be introduced along the route.
The route, which is nearly 55 miles, will start in Cheshunt.
Peter Hodges, from organiser SweetSpot, said: “It’s going to be a great atmosphere.
“There’s going to be a fantastic finish.”
Pick up a copy of next week’s Welwyn Hatfield Times for full details about the event.
