A WOMAN and two children narrowly escaped tragedy as their car plunged into the perimeter fence of a busy railway line.
Their silver Vauxhall Corsa was in collision with a blue Peugeot 407 at 8.20am today (Friday) at the junction of Oxlease Drive and Great North Road, Hatfield.
The Corsa then smashed into the fence, just yards from high-speed commuter trains travelling to and from King's Cross on the East Coast Main Line.
Neither the occupants of the Corsa or the two women travelling in the Peugeot were injured in the accident.
Both vehicles have been taken away from the scene.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
