DANCERS are being asked to come forward to take part in a free event to showcase their talents.

Dance companies, troops, schools and crews are invited by Hatfield hip-hop group Alter Ego to join them in a county-wide event.

Alter Ego is hosting Unified 2008 over two days in August, but want performers to sign up now.

Alter Ego director Brendon Hansford, said: "Within dance there is often rivalry, obviously at competition level but it doesn't always stop there.

"It's a shame when this happens because we all have something in common that we're passionate about, and that's our love of dance.

"By putting on this show we are hoping to build bridges with other companies and help towards developing a strong dance community who support each other.

"If we can all get along and work well together we'll all benefit in the long run."

Alter Ego, based at the University of Hertfordshire, will host the event on August 9 and 10 at the Wyllyotts Theatre, Potters Bar.
