VIDEO: Crimewatch to 'show' the night thugs battered Hertfordshire woman in her own home

CRIMEWATCH is to show a reconstruction video of the night an Essendon woman was dragged around her home and severely beaten by masked burglars.
The BBC One programme will tonight (Tuesday) show Lorraine Mitchell’s nightmare account of Friday, July 23, when she was tied up with wire and smashed in the face with a brick and a claw hammer.
Her 11-year-old daughter, Megan and a friend, were just yards away when the seven thugs attacked at around 11.20pm.
The story was reported on at the time by the Welwyn Hatfield Times, before we did a fresh witness appeal and an interview with Lorraine and Megan at the end of March.
Some 10 months since the attack though and still not one member of the vicious gang, whose targeted attack only resulted in a profit of around one hundred pounds and some jewellery, has been found.
It is hoped tonight’s show, which starts at 9pm, will put an end to their anonymity.
A snippet of tonight’s footage can be viewed by clicking on the video.
