REIGNING F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has qualified in ninth place on the grid for tomorrow's Chinese Grand Prix.
It is the 24-year-old Tewin race ace's best qualification so far this season in his Vodafone McLaren Mercedes, which is sporting a new rear diffuser.
Despite an updated car for this grand prix, his flying lap in the final qualifying session was still somewhat off the pace.
He clocked a time 2.4 seconds slower than Sebastian Vettel, who claimed a first ever pole position for the Red Bull team.
