The death of a student vet who was killed by a train near Potters Bar was an accident, a coroner ruled today.

Benjamin Ingledew, 22, who was studying at the Royal Veterinary College in North Mymms, was hit by a train half a mile north of Potters Bar railway station soon after midnight on May 5 last year.

Coroner Edward Thomas told Hatfield Coroner’s Court there was no reason to suspect suicide or foul play, and that alcohol may have affected the student’s perception of his surroundings.
