A jury has convicted a married couple of harrassment of a Welwyn Garden City man who had an affair with the wife, but was deadlocked on the more serious charge of arson.

Neil Ansell, 46, and Louise Ansell, 46, both of Downlands, Stevenage, were convicted on Friday at St Albans Crown Court after a trial, but their friend James Williams, 38, of Portman Close, St Albans was cleared.

As the jury could not agree whether the two men had committed conspiracy to commit arson, they will face a re-trial, although Louise Ansell was cleared of that charge under the judge’s direction.
