VANDALS went on a car-wrecking spree in Welwyn Garden City in the early hours of yesterday (Tuesday) – breaking the wing mirrors of 40 vehicles.

The offenders struck shortly after 2am in Sweet Briar, Haldens, Rowans and Lumbards.

A vehicle, described as a small car with a noisy exhaust, was seen in the area around the time of the crime spree and police officers are keen to trace it.

Inspector Ian Grout said: “This was a wanton act of vandalism which has left a large number of victims out of pocket.

“We are determined to catch those responsible and I would appeal to anyone who saw the incident or who has any information whatsoever about it to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.”
