A VAN fire caused tailbacks stretching over four junctions of a motorway this morning (Monday).

The fire began at 7.30am at junction 24 of the M25, at Potters Bar, and was believed to have started after an electrical fault inside the white Ford Transit van.

Two crews from Potters Bar attended the scene and diverted traffic through one lane of the motorway, causing havoc across the roads.

Firefighters had left the scene by 8.25am.

Nobody was injured.
