Police pulled over a van driver on the A1(M) near Welwyn this afternoon in connection with using a phone while driving.

The driver has been reported and now faces six points on his/her licence and a £200 fine or a trip to the magistrates court.

Beds, Cambs and Herts Road Policing officers say the driver denied the offence when stopped.

They tweeted: “Despite two officers observing the driver of this van using their mobile at the wheel on the A1(M) near Welwyn, the driver maintained it wasn’t being used.

“Driver reported, six points and £200 fine or a trip to magistrates court on the way.”
