Santa’s sleigh may not make it to Hatfield this year unless volunteers can be found to help out at the annual festive fundraiser.

Every year Santa’s sleigh takes to the town’s streets to delight children and raise funds for Hatfield charities.

But this year some rounds have had to be cancelled after not enough volunteers came forward to help out.

The rounds are organised by Hatfield Town Council and staffed by councillors and volunteers.

Council clerk Carrie Lloyd said: “To many Hatfield people this is the start of Christmas.

“If you enjoyed this event in your childhood please consider giving up two hours of your time so that the current generation of Hatfield youngsters can enjoy the experience too.

“Last year’s volunteers enjoyed the experience so much that they have come back again this year, it has such a feel good factor!”

Volunteers should meet at 4.15pm at Birchwood Leisure Centre for the nighttime rounds that last for about two hours.

The proposed dates for this year’s runs are December 9, 10, 12, 15, 16 and December 17.

This year the money collected will be donated to Jimmy Macs and Friendship House.
