An urgent appeal to find a new volunteer meeting place has been issued by a Hatfield charity after recent bad weather damaged its building.

The premises currently used by first aid charity St John Ambulance is letting in water through the roof. Adult volunteers currently meet at 58, Bridge Road East to carry out their training.

Unit manager Eric Callaghan said: “It is now looking very unlikely that satisfactory repairs can be undertaken which will allow us to continue to meet there long-term. I’m asking local people who may have a room that we can rent to get in touch with me within the next month.

“It would be sad to have to suspend operations temporarily as there is always a need for trained first aiders in the community.”
