A woman in her 60s was taken to hospital after a crash involving an ambulance vehicle in Welwyn Garden City, the service has confirmed.

Black Fan Road was closed by police in the aftermath of the crash, which happened shortly before 2pm.

The collision involved a blue Citroen C3 and a Skoda Octavia Estate, which was an ambulance fast response vehicle.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokeswoman told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “One of our rapid response vehicles was involved in a road traffic collision with another vehicle on Black Fan Road in Welwyn Garden City at around 2pm this afternoon.

“A female, thought to be in her 60s, was taken to the Lister Hospital after feeling generally unwell, and the member of staff involved was also taken to Lister Hospital as a precautionary measure.

“Neither is thought to have serious injuries.”
