THOUSANDS of homes and businesses across Times Territory lost power for a short time this lunchtime.

Engineers have discovered that a fault on a piece of equipment caused electricity supplies to fail just before 1.30pm.

Large parts of WGC and Hatfield were affected, as well as Essendon, Bramfield, Tewin, Hertford and St Albans.

An EDF Energy Networks spokeswoman said: "Our engineers restored power in stages from 1.38pm, and some customers would have seen their supply come on and off until all supplies were restored at 1.45pm.

"We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused, and cause of the fault is being investigated."
