AROUND 300 students and 50 staff from the University of Hertfordshire came together for a traditional party celebrating Chinese New Year.
The event was held at the Hatfield-based uni’s de Havilland Campus, where celebrations marking the start of the Year of the Rabbit got under way.
Kicking off on February 3, the Year of the Rabbit is believed to be one of the most peaceful years of the 12 Chinese Zodiacs.
Split into three parts, the party began with a traditional Chinese market, followed by a buffet dinner.
In the evening, guests enjoyed performances from singers, dancers, bands and traditional Chinese musicians.
The event was organised by the Chinese Students and Scholars Association at the University of Hertfordshire.
Lipeng Song, who was on the organising committee, said: “The performers are all students and alumni from the university, who voluntarily participated.
“This party was very successful and highly appraised by students and staff who attended.”
