Siobhan Simmons, of Hatfield, took the photos from her home in Hatfield at 2pm.

She told the Welwyn Hatfield Times just 10 minutes later: “It’s stopped now and the sun’s out.”

The hashtag #SnowInApril is currently trending on Twitter as many towns across the country are experiencing brief snowfall.

Siobhan said: “As soon as I see a few white flakes I’m taken back to my childhood and I feel the excitement. Will enough fall for a snowman or a snowball fight with my brother? If snow only falls for a few moments and doesn’t settle it still makes my heart jump.”

The forecast for the rest of the week in Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City is cloudy with some light rain.
