UNDER-FIRE Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps said he has no regrets over founding the internet business HowToCorp, or creating the Michael Green persona.

Mr Shapps, who has found himself at the centre of a media storm after the company was reported to the Advertising Standards Agency this week, today said he founded the company as a ‘hobby’ while he was fighting cancer.

The Conservative Party co-chairman told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “I don’t think that somebody who has business experience should be ashamed of what they do, or did.”

Asked whether he should have responded to criticism sooner about the Michael Green affair, he responded flippantly: “Maybe I should have made a song and dance about it, but then maybe I should have made a song and dance about making the B Team (at football) when I was at school.”

And he downplayed the importance of the company, saying: “It was never an important part of my world.”
