UNDER fire Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps will appear on flagship political debate TV show Question Time tonight (Thursday).

The Conservative Party chairman has attracted flak for his use of pseudonym Michael Green in his controversial online HowToCorp venture but thinks he will be quizzed on bigger issues by audience members and the Birmingham panel.

He said: “There are bigger real issues out there like the bigger challenges the country faces rather than this little tussle [with the national press].

The 44-year-old added: “I’m looking forward to as always Question Time is always a big thing.

“It is unusual because unlike other political programmes you receive questions from the audience.”

Mr Shapps will be joined by shadow energy secretary Caroline Flint MP, Liberal Democrat deputy leader Simon Hughes MP, the poet and author Benjamin Zephaniah and Daily Telegraph columnist Cristina Odone.

* Question Time will be BBC One at 10.35pm.
