ULTIMATE Band, published by Disney at 29.99 for Wii is for age rating three years and over. If you've been put off playing Rock Band because of the expensive peripherals, then Ultimate Band's reliance on the Wii remote and nunchuck controller for its music making might appeal.
The idea is to guide four young rockers from obscurity to global superstars, but the controls are fiddly at best. Playing the lead and bass guitars involves using the remote like a guitar pick while drumming feels much more natural. As the game doesn't come bundled with a microphone, you won't score points for your singing. Instead, you take on the role of a frontman, clapping your hands in time to the 35 songs (all covers). In the end, you're left feeling more like a boy band than a rock group.
