Two people have been arrested following an alleged assault in Welwyn Garden City yesterday.

Police were called to Chequers Field at the corner of Howlands, at around 7.15pm.

Officer received a report from a member of the public that there was an altercation between a group of males.

When officers arrived they spoke to a person who alleged they had been assaulted and subsequently two arrests were made.

A 21-year-old man from Welwyn Garden City was arrested on suspicion of assault and obstructing police.

He was further arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon after a knife was recovered nearby.

A 14-year-old boy from Welwyn Garden City was also arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a controlled drug.

Both people arrested are in police custody.
