Two swords were seized and two men were arrested in a drugs bust this afternoon in Welwyn Garden City.

The flat raid near Woodhall shopping parade was launched in response to local antisocial behaviour, suspected drug activity in the area and violence in the town centre over the weekend.

Police officers seized what is believed to be cannabis, drugs paraphernalia and suspected stolen property, including the two swords.

A 22-year-old man from Hatfield and a 23-year-old man from Welwyn Garden City were arrested at the property on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs. Both currently remain in police custody.

It follows 11 arrests that have been made since violence in Welwyn Garden City over the weekend, when three people were assaulted and robbed.
