Two children were still inside a burning building in Potters Bar while the fire service rushed to the scene.

The fire service received multiple calls at 8.10am to reports of a house fire in Laurel Fields, Potters Bar.

A spokesman for Herts Fire said: “The control operator kept the caller on the phone as two children were reported to still be inside.”

Crews from Potters Bar, Borehamwood, and St Albans attended.

A spokesman for Herts Fire said: “On arrival crews reported all persons accounted for.

“The fire was in the kitchen and a hose reel, two sets of breathing apparatus and one covering jet were used to put the fire out.

“Premises were ventilated and one casualty left in the care of the ambulance service.”
