Hertfordshire County Council has launched a programme of replanting trees in Welwyn Hatfield and other areas across the borough.
It follows tree inspections last year that resulted in felling of diseased or dead trees.
County councillor Terry Douris, cabinet member for highways, said: “Our aim is to maintain and nurture the county’s landscape as far as possible.
“It is unfortunate when we need to remove diseased trees from neighbourhoods and highways but this is carried out to safeguard residents from the potential health and safety problems of tree pests and from the financial implications of dealing with a large-scale infection if not dealt with in a timely and responsible way.
“I am always pleased to roll out the replanting programmes as Hertfordshire’s green and beautiful landscape is one to be nurtured and to be proud of.”
