Trees hit houses, block roads and even lampposts as storm hits

Trees have fallen on houses, blocked roads and even took out a lamppost as a storm batters Welwyn Hatfield and Potters Bar.

Herts Fire and Rescue have been called out to seven incidents across the region.

The calls started early this morning with reports a roof had been blown off a building in Broadwater Road, Welwyn Garden City, at 7.10am.

Soon afterwards a tree fell into a house in Wellfield Road, Hatfield.

After the call came in at 7.25am police were called to control the traffic and firefighters helped make the area safe.

In Potters Bar’s Oulton Crescent a tree reportedly fell onto a neighbours shed.

At around 7.46am in St Albans Road East, in Hatfield, a tree smashed into a lamppost.

Police were called to control the traffic.

The last report County Hall had was of a tree falling across Cowper Road, Welwyn Garden City.

A tree has also fallen in Parkway, Welwyn Garden City.
