Traveller families arrived at a community centre’s car park in Potters Bar this morning.

Five caravans arrived at the Elm Court Community Centre in Mutton Lane at about 8am this morning.

Tom Shirley, chairman of the trustees who run the community centre, said: “The main problem is they’re congesting the car park.

“They seem a reasonable bunch, but haven’t got anywhere else to go.

“I do feel sorry for them.

“They’re taking up 20 spaces out of 72. They have been careful about where they have parked.”

The car park is usually used by parents when they drop off children at Cranborne Primary School.

But Mr Shirley described the parking this morning as “a bit chaotic”.
