Welwyn junction delayed

A ROUNDABOUT will not be built in a village due to the recession.

The junction was due to be installed in Welwyn as part of the Parish Plan, as previously reported in the Welwyn Hatfield Times.

But a Hertfordshire County Council spokeswoman told the WHT “budget constraints” meant the planned change to the junction of London Road, High Street and School Lane could not be funded in the 2011/12 financial year.

She said it was “unfortunate”, yet as the roundabout had been designed and consulted upon, the council would press for it to be finished when funds became available.
