Welwyn Hatfield motorists are being warned to avoid the M1 this weekend as the second of two bridge demolitions take place near Dunstable.
The route, often used by people heading north, will be closed between Junctions 9 and 12 northbound, and 12 and 11 southbound, from 8pm on Saturday to 2pm the following day.
Highways England said various diversions will be in place, and traffic wishing to get to Junction 10, for Luton Airport, and Junction 11 will be able to continue north on the motorway at Junction 9 as one lane will remain open to Junction 11 only.
Highways England project manager Karen Green said: “Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys. Significant delays are expected from 7pm on the Saturday so drivers are advised to consider alternative routes if possible.”
