Welwyn Garden City A1(M) through road closed tonight

A COMMUTER road which leads to the A1(M) will be temporarily closed tonight (Thursday)

A section of the A1000 in WGC, from the railway viaduct to the Digswell roundabout (near Shire Park), was closed this morning so highways crews could carry out surface dressing work.

A Herts Highways spokesman said: “Due to ongoing heavy rain this afternoon, the road closure will continue until the site has dried out and been swept. This is to protect the fresh dressing.

“Motorists should follow the diversion signs, taking them from the A1000 on to the A6129 and the B197.

“The latest radar forecast shows the heavy rain clearing Welwyn at around 6pm, followed by showers up to around 8pm and then turning dry.”
