Trains calling at Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield are suffering delays because of a signalling fault.
Network Rail staff are currently trying to fix a signalling problem between Welwyn Garden City and Welwyn that is delaying southbound services.
The work has imposed a speed restriction that will affect services until about 3pm.
