Part of the A1(M) near Hatfield was closed this afternoon (Wednesday) after a swan landed on the road.
Concerned drivers called the police around noon reporting that a long-necked bird was on the empty slip road leading to Junction 3 (Hatfield/ St Albans).
Police then closed the road to allow officers to safely locate and contain the water fowl.
At 12.40pm the swan flew away unharmed and the road was reopened shortly after.
