Police were called to the A1(M) this morning amid reports of concern for the welfare of a 20-year-old man on a bridge.
They received a call at 6.43am and attended the A1(M) just south of Junction 4 (Hatfield). The route was subsequently closed in both directions as a precaution to allow officers to deal with the situation.
The man was taken to Lister Hospital in Stevenage and the road reopened at roughly 7.20am.
