An overturned lorry and subsequent oil spill will cause commuters problems on the M25 at South Mimms this morning (May 26).

Both lanes on the clockwise exitslip at junction 23 are currently closed, and are not expected to reopen until 11am.

Cars cannot join the A1(M) north-bound from the M25 in either direction, and also cannot join the A1 south from the M25 anticlockwise.

Firefighters from Potters Bar, Borehamwood, and St Albans were called to the scene at about 6.15am this morning to help sort the problem out.

A diversion goes from the M25 at junction 22, onto the A1081, then rejoins the A1(M) at junction 3.
