PLANS to extend the ‘nerve centre’ of Hertfordshire’s motorway network have been given the green light.
Officers at Hertsmere Borough Council approved an application from the Highways Agency to build a store room and provide extra parking spaces at its regional control centre in South Mimms.
A Highways Agency spokesman said the expansion of the building – which opened in January 2006 – would allow it to operate “as effectively as possible”.
The proposals, which were submitted back in November, were endorsed following a period of public consultation and a site visit by planners.
The control centre, located in St Albans Road, covers the A1(M) and M25 in Times Territory.
