The Hatfield Tunnel on the A1(M) between Tesco and the Welwyn Garden City junction will temporarily close this weekend.
A Highways England spokesman said the stretch would close between 10pm on Saturday and 6am the following morning, and there would be a diversion via the A1001.
He said it was for scheduled safety checks to ensure all the response equipment was functioning.
