FOUR horses caused chaos on the M25 this morning after getting loose on the motorway.

Police were called at 7.16am and informed that three horses were on the road between junctions 24 and 23.

When the highways authorities and police arrived at the scene they found four horses and managed to herd them onto a slip road at Junction 22 after slowing down traffic.

The police are now waiting for the horses to be collected before they reopen the slip road at around 9.15am.

There are currently delays of more than 30 minutes between junctions 21A (Potters Bar) and 23 (South Mimms) anti-clockwise.
