A damaged tree near Stevenage has caused six miles of traffic on the A1(M) back to Hatfield this evening.
There are currently long delays on the northbound stretch after a damaged tree was leaning onto the carriageway near Stevenage, causing one lane to close.
A tree surgeon was called and the problem dealt with, but it has caused around six miles of slow traffic between junctions seven and three.
Highways England said it expects delays to start easing but warned motorists to plan ahead before travelling.
